What is Naruto?

Naruto is a very popular anime series originated from a
Japanese manga created by Masashi Kishimoto. In the series
Naruto Uzumaki is the main character. He is a young and
very noisy, hyperactive ninja from the Hidden Village of Konoha, one of the main ninja villages in the country. Its symbol is a leaf which is displayed on the head protectors of all Konoha Ninjas. Naruto Uzumaki is always searching for acknowledgement and attention in his home town. His ultimate dream is to become hokage, which is the head of the Konoha village.
Naruto was first published in 1999 in Japany, the manga was a great succes.
The manga series were then translated by VIZ Media in the American Shonen Jump magazin. Naruto is so popular that it is now VIZ Media’s best selling manga.

On October 3rd, 2002 the TV series were first broadcasted in Tokyo. In the United States, Naruto was first broadcasted by Cartoon Network in September 2005. A year later Canada followed the United States. In the United Kingdom it was first aired on Jetix on July 22nd.
The first series lasted nine seasons, while Naruto Shippuuden began its first on February 15, 2007.

The Story

The story begins 12 years before the actual manga/anime story begins. The Kyuubi, which means Nine-Tails Demon Fox, attacked the ninja village Konoha. The Kyuubi is a very big and strong demon disguised as a fox with nine tails. The story tells that it could cause tsunamis within a single wheep of its tail. Many people died in the attack, untill the fourth Hokage of Konoha sacrificed himself to rescue the village. He sealed the Kyuubi in a baby with a secret jutsu (technique). This child is called Uzumaki Naruto.

Naruto then grew to adolescent age, but without friends. Every elder person in the village,
but Naruto’s peers knew Uzumaki Naruto had the Kyuubi within him. The Kyuubi killed many people after all. Naruto didn’t know that he had a demon within him because no one was allowed to talk about this. He always joked around to get acknowledged because he never got attention.

One day Naruto stole a powerfull scroll for Mizuki, but Naruto didn’t know it was a trap.
As a result of that Naruto ended up in a battle of life and death. Luckily he was rescued by his teacher Iruka. Naruto then passed the ninja school. Now his goal is to become the greatest Hokage ever to be acknowledged by everyone!
