クーデターは九尾でやろうとしてたうちは一族はナルトが必要
The Uchiha clan, wanting to use the Kyuubi in a coup d’etat against the village, needed Naruto.

でも三代目がナルトを監視してたから（水晶で見てる）
But the Third Hokage kept an eye out on Naruto (using his crystal ball)

一族が強行手段に出るのは難儀でフガクはイタチを暗部に送ってナルトの監視役にさせようとした
The clan knew that taking Naruto by force would be difficult so Fugaku decided to send Itachi to work in the Anbu and spy on Naruto.

でも先に行動に出たのは上層部の３人でイタチに一族がクーデター起こそうとしてると話す
But the three top officials (The two people always with the Third and Danzou) got to Itachi first and told him of the clan’s plan to overthrow the Leaf.

九尾事件で子供のイタチがミコトに庇われて九尾を見てる回想九尾
Itachi has a little flashback of when he was a kid and the Kyuubi attacked (him being protected by his mother, Mikoto)

「イタチはあれを天災じゃないと聞かされて信じ込んだ 最期まで信じていたようだ」「あの時天才以外に九尾を呼べるのはオレしかいなかった」「オレが イタチに嫌わ れている原因のひとつだった」 ."
Madara: Itachi was told that the Kyuubi attack was no natural disaster and believed it. It seems he believed it up until the very end. Back then the only person apart from a genius who could have called forth the Kyuubi was me. That’s one of the reasons Itachi hated me.

サスケ「お前とイタチはいつから繋がった」
Sasuke: So when did you and Itachi meet/join forces/etc.?

マダラ「それは後々話そう…ただ」「お前がイタチを兄と慕っていた時間より長いとだけ言ってお く」
Madara: That conversation can wait till later…However, I will say now that we knew each other longer than you thought of him as your beloved older brother.

サスケ「…」
Sasuke: …

イタチには考える時間が与えられた
Itachi was given some time to think.

イタチは悩んだ…一族を皆殺しにするという事はサスケ、もちろんお前もその対象に入っていた
Itachi was troubled…killing his entire clan would mean that Sasuke…of course you (Sasuke) would have been included.

だが板挟みになって身動きが取れなくなっていたイタチを決意させる決定的な出来事が二つ起こる
But for Itachi, whose dilemma had left him unable to act at all, two things occurred which would help him make his decision.

ひとつはシスイ殺しの疑いをかけられた事だ
The first was the suspicion put on him that he had murdered Shisui.

強い憎しみからイタチは万華鏡写輪眼を開眼した
Itachi awoke the Mangekyou Sharingan from an intense hatred.

サスケ回想「あの時…！」
Sasuke flashback: That time…!

だがそれはフガクが仕向けた事だった. 九尾を操るには万華鏡写輪眼が必要だ
But that was what Fugaku had manipulated him into. The Mangekyou Sharingan was necessary in order to control the Kyuubi.

イタチの様子がおかしいと感付いていたフガクは可能性があったイタチに万華鏡を開眼させること でイタチを一 族に縛りつけようとした
Fugaku, sensing that Itachi was acting strangely, decided to awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan in Itachi, as he had the possibility of attaining it, and using this to tie Itachi to the clan.

サスケ「父さんが…」
Sasuke: Father…

そしてもうひとつは里の上層部からお前の命を引き合いに出された事だ
The other thing that happened was that three higher ups threw your (Sasuke’s) life into the mix.

じいさんばあさんがクーデターが起きたら関係ない人が死ぬ恐れもあるし
The old man and lady thought that were the coup d’etat to happen that many people unrelated to the happenings might die.

どっちみち一族も殺すことになるから
If either way the clan is going to be killed

サスケだけでも助けたくないかと言われてうなずくイタチで終
Then wouldn’t Itachi want to at least save Sasuke? The chapter ends with Itachi nodding yes.

イタチは暗部にスパイの為に入ったが里側に情報を流した二重スパイだった
Itachi was a spy (from Uchiha) to ANBU, but he leaked (Uchiha’s) information to the village side. He was a double spy.

イタチは４才で戦争を経験しているから里の安定を第一に考えていた
Itachi experienced a war at his age 4, so he thought the village’s safety was the most important.

だから仕方なくうちは抹殺をした
So he killed Uchiha clan. He had no choice.

三代目は和解をしようとしたが間に合わずあの夜へと
The third Hokage tried to reconcile, but it was late. And the night came.

抜け忍になるのも指令の一つだった
To be a rogue Ninja was a part of the order.

だがイタチは一つ失敗をした
But Itachi made one mistake.

弟を殺せなかった
He couldn’t kill his brother.

サスケをまもるように三代目に頼みサスケに手を出さないようダンゾウを脅して里を抜けた
He asked the third to protect Sasuke and threatened Danzou not to lay a hand on Sasuke and he left village.

イタチは初めからサスケに力を与え死ぬつもりだったらしい
Itachi planed to give his power to Sasuke and die from the first.

木の葉は「里」を安定させる為に大きな芝居をうった

うちはと木の葉とを融和させるのが彼の最大の任務

ただ　思いもしない事態が起こった

かつて木の葉へと不審を募らせていたものが九尾を封印された赤子ごと奪おうとしたのだ
その計画は失敗に終わった
だがうちはは木の葉から隔離を求められた
そしてその対応にうちは一族は再びクーデターを企み、それはもうイタチにも止めようもないもの だった
「里」の安定という当初の計画を中止する事もできない
任務のシナリオは大きく加筆修正させられた
里を安定させる為にうちは滅ぼされなければならない…

He (Itachi) accepted his fate as he embarked on his mission.
To sacrifice himself…this was his mission.

In order to have stability in the "village", Konoha put up a false image.
The person with the leading role was Itachi.
To observe/supervise the movements of the ex-rivals, the Uchihas, and at the same time arranged to ensure the stability of the village.
The head of the Uchiha clan only let his guard down in front of his son, Itachi.
His (Itachi’s) biggest mission was to ensure the harmony between Uchiha and Konoha.
Konoha and Uchiha can be said to be on good terms.
However, an unthinkable incident took place.
A mystery hanged in the past in Konoha of which someone tried to kidnap the baby in which Kyuubi was sealed.
However, the plan ended in failure.
However, the Uchihas requested to be segregated from Konoha.
In response to that, it seemed that the Uchiha clan once again was plotting a coup d’etat, and even Itachi could not stop them.
Neither could he abort the initial plan to ensure stability in the "village".
The mission’s scenario was greatly changed.
To ensure the peace in the village, Uchiha clan must be destroyed…
Then, to make sure that the responsibility for the massacre of the Uchiha clan did not fall into Konoha’s hands, the actual murderer Itachi, could not be killed either.
Tainted by the fate of the survival of the Uchiha’s blood, he placed this matter into his own younger brother’s hands

To the outsiders…
What follows after that must be recorded
It’s concluded to be the best plan to ensure that peace prevails thereafter.
